Fencing FAQ's
Q.
How do I know which fence is my responsibility?
A. You should
contact the solicitor who acted for you when you purchased your
property. He will look at the deeds and advise you which
fence is who's responsibility.
Q.
What if the fence that I want replaced is not my responsibility,
but my neighbours?
A. You have a
few choices. The first option (depending on the
circumstances and relationship with your neighbour, might be to
knock and advise them that your are considering replacing your
fences but that you have discovered that the one you really want
renewed is their responsibility. You could then offer to pay
half towards the cost, or if you can afford it, you could ask them
if they object to you paying all the cost.
The other option is
to have your new fence put up within your land, next to the old
fence. Therefore you will not see the old fence any more,
and your neighbours will not notice any difference.
Q.
Do I have to treat your fence after you have installed it for me?
A. No.
You do not have to anything other than enjoy your new fence!
However, if you prefer to change the colour, you can further treat
them yourself.
Q.
How long will it take to have my new fences erected?
A. Depending
on our workload we should be able to book your job in from about 2
weeks after we visit you to quote. Once we arrive, we get
straight to work and have most jobs completed within two working
days. However, larger installations may take longer.
We will advise you when we carry out your quotation.
